The Literacy test comprises three focus areas: Reading, Writing and Language Conventions. Here you will find information on the Reading task. The Reading task provides students with a magazine containing a range of texts in different styles. Students read the texts and then answer related questions in a booklet.
The reading task assesses comprehension skills including identifying main ideas, cause and effect, the meaning of unfamiliar words, as well as asking students to draw conclusions and make inferences.
We've put together a comprehensive list of resources from education departments around the country. Click the download links for sample reading magazine and tests, as well as example answers.
